March news 2025

March 19th, 2025

I knew I am not much of a talker, and this blog proves it. Either that, or I simply cannot find time for it, those of you who have kids will understand. Time just slips out of my hands and disappears in nothing.

Anyway, I wanted to share some news that have happened since I last wrote you. Here are 3 most important ones:

I got nominated in the category “The Artist of the Year in Instrumental Music Genre” in the newly established Latvian Music Award, called GAMMA, which stands for “Gada Augstākais Mūsdienu Mūzikas Apbalvojums” – The Highest Contemporary Music Award of the Year. I am so very honoured for this recognition and am beyond thankful!! Here you can find the list of all nominees in 2024.

A very nice surprise happened earlier this year – my composition “Wednesday” got included in this beautiful sheet music book – “The Faber Music Women Composers Piano Anthology”, published by @fabermusicpublishing. It is a landmark publication featuring over 50 works for piano by women across the centuries. Available now from fabermusic.com/shop or your preferred music retailer. Also, listen to the playlist “The Faber Music Women Composers Anthology” on Spotify. If you are interested in my other sheet music, it’s here.

For this year’s PIANO DAY I am very happy to be a part of this wonderful compilation album “Piano Whispers 01” with my new composition “Wandering E Flat”. Based in Barcelona, this neo-classical music label Ad21 is compiling 51 talented composers and pianists from all over the world. Mark the release day – March 28th!

Other than that, we have done lots fighting different viruses, around in circles, but on the fun side – we also went on a ski trip to Austrian Alps and survived 2 days road trip both ways with 2 kids. We are very proud! Here I am trying my best to look happy, whereas I honestly didn’t enjoy skiing (because I can’t really ski).

As always you are welcome to contact me and share your feedback, also thanks for sharing my music and listening to it! 🎧 Without you I wouldn’t got millions of streams, I am so very grateful to you all.

Stay safe and healthy, with love from Latvia,

    Aija

      1. Thanks so much for your comment, Zach! I am looking forward to hear the whole compilation album. It’s so huge and diverse! Hope all is well in Scranton. Wait, is it the same Scranton from the Office :))?
